Low Power Mode: A Core Teaching for Creators

Ever since Helene hit my life, I've made Low Power Mode my whole personality.

I’m moving through the world in a much different way.

Helene demanded that we go about our business in a more intentional way. Given our current climate, this lesson has imprinted itself as a core value in how I plan on guiding community, supporting creators, and discerning what to offer next.

We pour so much of ourselves into our craft. But what happens when life calls for a reset?

Or a full-on reboot.

It is not business as usual.

How do we keep going without burning out?

You see why I’m obsessed with 🪫 Low Power Mode?

I’m drawn by the simple idea of prioritizing what matters most.

Let’s stick to #podcasting for now. Here’s how to apply Low Power Mode to your show:

1️⃣ Core Functionality

What is at the heart of your podcast? Focus on that. Strip away what isn’t essential.
Simple to do, but at times not easy.

2️⃣ Optimizing Energy Use

This isn’t about slowing down; it’s about using your energy intentionally.

Some days, optimizing energy might mean showing up fully for one thing while letting others wait. Other times, it might mean stepping back altogether to regroup.

3️⃣ Pausing Non-Essential Updates

We all have inboxes—literal and metaphorical—that drain our attention.

Identify the non-critical ones and give yourself permission to pause or ignore them. The clarity this creates will guide you toward what truly matters.

Sustaining Your Podcast and Yourself

Low Power Mode isn’t about doing less. It’s about staying functional, effective, and ready for what’s next—without draining your reserves.

🟨 Practical Steps to Keep in Mind

Revisit your core purpose as a podcaster. What’s your “gasoline in the car”—the thing you must prioritize above all else?

Take time to reflect. Whether through journaling, walking, or meditating, ground yourself regularly in what energizes and inspires you.

Build reserves. Whether it’s pre-recorded episodes, support from your community, or a simple creative break, these will sustain you when life gets hectic.

In the end, Low Power Mode isn’t about doing less—it’s about doing what matters, intentionally and sustainably.
