Celebrating Twila Dang: A True Leader in Women's Podcasting
Let me tell you my story about Twila Dang.
I've been in this industry for almost two decades (good lord...), and I've seen women come into the scene, create products, services, coaching, offerings—you name it—all because "podcasting" is the cool new thing.
I get prickly.
Why? Because they come in with dreams of making big entrepreneurial bucks, only to realize that supporting women in podcasting is, well, not for the faint of heart. And then—poof—they disappear.
I tend to sit back.
I watch.
I lurk.
I opt in to their offerings, buy their products, and show up to the workshops because I WANT MORE AMAZING WOMEN IN PODCASTING. But I’m also fiercely protective of the community.
Truth be told, I'm usually dissappointed.
And then came Twila.
I can still picture exactly where I was: in my kitchen on a Sunday, tuning into a Women in Podcasting Q&A to find out what this was all about.
Within MINUTES of listening to Twila, I was like...
"Whoa, she's ALL that and then some."
I almost cried.
By the time I finished lurking for an hour, I couldn’t wait to tell anyone who would listen what a brilliant, wise, deeply insightful, no-nonsense LEADER she was.
To me, her induction into the Podcasting Hall of Fame is a no-brainer. She is a stalwart champion of women's voices in podcasting.
My only hope is that I get the chance to physically give her a hug one day and let her know, face to face, how much I admire and respect her.
